10 Year Anniversary Ride to COOLAH We left McDonalds at Richmond in two groups, one group lead by Kim travelling by car went out via Mudgee where I believe they drove through some bad weather and also had a problem passing several hotels. The other group lead by Ron traveled by bike and went out via Merriwa. This group was made up of seven bikes and two cars and travelled out through Blaxlands Ridge Road to the Putty Road then onto Bulga where they re-grouped had a quick cuppa, and for those who needed it, fuel. From Bulga we headed out to Jerrys Plains where we met up with Graeme Patterson and a couple of his mates and then off into Merriwa for lunch. We timed the lunch break well because just after we had all fueled-up and got into the RSL, it rained. But by the time we had had some lunch and were ready to leave it has stopped. After lunch we split into two groups and headed-off into Coolah where we arrived at around 4:00 to 4:30. I have been told we all had a great night at the pub where there was a DJ playing and everybody was wearing a funny hat of some sort and there is a rumor going around that a fair bit of Growing Old Disgracefully was crammed into one night. Next morning we all met at the pub for a great breakfast and Carol and Ron presented trophies for the best and worst hats. We then all said our goodbyes and apologised to the publican and headed back to Sydney. We once again left in two different directions some via Mudgee where they stopped for a cuppa and some retail therapy, I believe. Then they all stopped again at the Apple Bar Bilpin for a break and the on to home, a wet trip in places but a safe one. Myself and three other bikes headed-off in the rain back through Merriwa where we refueled we then headed to Denman where we were to stop but as we were to early, we decided to make the stop at Bulga instead. Once we were all refreshed we said our goodbyes and headed-off up a wet and slippery Putty Road towards home. From all reports everyone had a great time and there are several happy snaps circulating to back this up. The main thing is that all riders travelled in both directions safely in conditions that were not ideal for bike riding. Thanks to everyone that made this weekend away another one to remember. Dave.
